April 22nd - Drama drama drama, no drama

School (No, it's 'university'. And it's not 'teacher', it's 'lecturer')

So, I was finally deciding to start on this assigment for school yesterday evening but while writing a message to my friend T. my screen froze up. I was like 'ah, not big deal, I'll just flip the on/off switch and start again'. I was wrong. I don't like being wrong sometimes...

I panic, send email to teacher and wait.... nothing.. so I fell asleep incidently at 4 am and woke up again at 8.30 am. More panic. I run out of my house, in my sweatpants and with unbrushed hair that could be described as 'the beginpoint of dreadlocks' to make it to school to write my assignment (yes, really, Tori would smack me in the face and go 'where's the fashions!'.. And honestly... I'm not even wearing a bra. I didn't have time to put one on)

I knew an hour and a half would not be enough, and no I'm not even half way at the moment. So I start typing really fast, all the while checking facebook to see if my ticket is secured (yes it is, we're going to (walk to) Dublin!). Then, at 10.45, 15 minutes before the deadline, I get this email from my teacher...ahem, lecturer.. if i can manage to hand it in before 7 pm, if that's ok. I'm like 'is it ok?, are you kidding me.. I love you!'

Needless to say, I need to get back to work on the assignment and finish it before 7 pm. The only problem is, I left my wallet at home. That is the reason I hopped on the train, in hopes I wouldn't get fined - I can't go on the subway without my card, there's just no way, so I'm not at school, I'm at the parents house. This means, I have to get back to my home, on the train, again hoping I won't get fined, pick up my wallet, go to school and finish the assignment.

Are you as exhausted as I am? (oh AND I heard from R. that my computer troubles might have something to do with a ram-card, so I got one from my dad to try this afternoon and I gotta do that too).

Ok, breathe.

Update: I just saw a plahane, I just saw a plane! How sad is it to now welcome the sights and sounds of a plane. With living in Amsterdam we usually only complain about planes. It's definitely the world upside down because of that stupid Shananana volcano

Lala-land

Ok, so how easy was the ticket buying for Dublin? No stress, yay! And again, big thanks to T. for buying my ticket for me!

Update: Computer is back up, I'm over the moon! Huzzay!

April 20th 2010 - Ashclouds, travelmania, store clerks

Tori, tori, tori, tori, tori - The Alternate Universe

Ok, so. I think it's fair to say we can speak about a tour now? Tennessee, Bruges, Zurich, Moscow and now Dublin? Tori dear, stop messing with my head! We are on the logistical nightmares Saab again. Not.good.
So I looked into the options for Zurich > Dublin and I guess the easiest thing to do is buy one way tickets. Zurich>London, London>Dublin, Dublin>(London)>Amsterdam?

I figured out a one way from Zurich to Gatwick is €45 and a single from Gatwick to Dublin is 19.99 pounds. That's do able... the way back to Amsterdam I don't know yet.. Gaaaah! Well, I will buy a ticket to the Dublin show anyway, and if it doesn't work out, I loose €45 or I'll just sell it... We'll see! Or if she announces a show in England, I'll just do that and skip Dublin, or do both.... It's hard being a Toriphile...

And then we have that stupid volcano (what's its name? Shall we dub it Shananana instead? It has a nice ring to it... oh wait! Anyway, he's a bad cloud, mr. ash cloud has been causing mucho problemos. I heard KLM has resumed 50% of its flights though, and they even did a test flight flying THROUGH the damn thing. So hopefully that shizz will be well and done come July, cause I won't hear about no cancellations... Tori better get her butt here on a llama for all I care. Don't be a diva, sleep in a tent with us and hitch hike a ride back to Cornwall. No big deal. :P

Amsterdamya people

Ok, another thing I wanted to tell you all is that I sometimes love my people. Waiters, store clerks and even bellhops can be a pain in the ass for tourists. We are generally dubbed 'not very friendly'. I like to think I'm different, but that's just the way it is. Anyway, so my deodorant I bought from Rituals just decided not to work anymore after I used it twice. That sucked, since it's from Rituals and Rituals is very expensive. So I was like, well I will just go back to the store with my receipt and see what they can do. I totally forgot the receipt. I was downtown anyway, so I decided to just swing by without the receipt, and in a different location. So I thought, they're never gonna exchange it without the receipt. I was wrong! I love being wrong sometimes. I explained to the girl that the thing just stopped spraying when I pushed it down, but that it was full, so she tested it and said 'ok, you are right, it's still completely full and I don't know why it doesn't work. I'll get you a new one, sorry!'

O_o. That NEVER happens.

Ok, Imma chill out with a nice bottle of La Chouffe (Belgian blonde beer. Woot!) and I'll talk to you later!

Update: oh and I totally forgot my faverite person in Cornwall! (no, it's not Tori apparently ;) ). His name is Ian Marshall, and he's very enthousiastic.

April 12th and 13th - Flying solo

So, I checked with my friend about the Film festival and it turns out she can't make it :( I have no friends, so no one to go with. Shall I go by myself, I wonder. Probably not. Oh well, there's always next year, plus I'll definitely watch the 4 movies on DVD ;)

In other news, I bought the most awesomest sunglasses ever. I'm in love. I was tempted to try a Pucci one, cause I love Pucci and they sell them, but I had to wait forever for the girl to help me, so I told her 'well, fuck you, you could have sold me a 250 euro pair of sunglasses, but if you're not interested, well fuck that shit'. And so I bought the aviators.

They are kinda awesome right?!

So now, I just need another pair, maybe something like this:

And I'll be all set for summer!

Oh and people that were wondering: yes the National Railways actually do tell passengers that someone jumped in front of a train ;) I'll take a picture next time and show you. The electric sign actually phrases it as 'collision with a person', I'm really serious!

Till next time!

April 10th 2010 Imagine That!

So, I AM SO THERE (I think ;) ). It's the annual Imagine Filmfestival this week :D It used to be the Fantastic Filmfestival of Amsterdam, but they changed their name. So it's a Horror/Sci-Fi festival and on Saturday starting at 12.30 am it's Terror Night at the Tuschinski. This means, 4 Horror flicks during the whole night and basically a contest of who can stay up the longest. Plus, there's a Scream Queen contest, people have popcorn fights and yell shit at the screen like 'you whore, don't go in there! Or.. do! We wanna see you killed!' and 'you are such a dialogue whore!'

The movies that are gonna be shown:

Rec 2 (HELL YES! Rec is one of my fave horrors ever!)
The Crazies (HELL YES, remake of The Crazies from 1973)
Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl (Japan, should be insanely entertaining)
La Horde (French, zombieflick)

Info: http://www.film1.nl/blog/12933-Imagine-The-Night-of-Terror-met-vier-ijzersterke-horrorfilms-terug-in-Tuschinski.html
(in Dutch)

Should be awesome, me and my colleague N. are trying to go!

Other than that, I worked and it was boring. Nothing happened really.

But yay for the festival!

April 9th 2010 - Drunk drunk drunkity drunk!

(this is gonna happen a lot. It might not have much spelling mistake, but it took like 4 hours to write... ok)

So, I was done at the restaurant at 23.00. My colleagues earlier. This means, in short... catching up. Nothing against my colleagues, really, so I had like 2 draughts, 1 shot of Cointreau, 2 Palm and one Corona in 3 hours. I catched up. No offense, cause I don't drink shit like tequila, rum, wiskey or any of that.. I'm cool with beer, wine and sweet liquor.

Anyway, my day was short but sweet. I got up at 10 am, went to class at 11 am, got home at around 1.30 pm, chatted with my sweet friend B. for a little while and went off to work. Luckily, the place didn't burn down, was locked up and the vegetables came in!!!! Hurray me!! Now the only worry is if I did the money thing right, but we won't know until next week or so. But I guess I'm cool! As I disclosed on yessaid.com (is it back yet?!?!?), I can be very unsentitive (even with money - I have someone who still owes me around to €1500, but she's not around anymore, so I won't even give shit if it comes back or not- that's my own damn fault... how I could I believe fucked up shit... but that's another story) I have this huge problem with insensitivity. I don't give a fuck about most shit. I should, but I don't....what'ya gonna do.

Which bring me to my next point. I don't care who reads this, I have to say it. It you are responsible for shit, DO IT. Like my manager asked me and my colleagues to bring in the 4 tables and 8 chairs that are sitting out on the terrace (while we were off work. J. joked this was coming back to haunt me :P.).. if you can carry a million plates up your arm, why can't you carry that?!?! Is it just laziness? Emancipation my ASS. I build off the fucking HEAVY terrace we had for 3 years on my own and you can't lift up a featherlight chair? Fuck that shit!

I didn't tell her, of course. So we're cool, unless she reads this :P So, I needed change for my €50 and off to Alto Jazz cafe it was. My 2 colleagues were there already and they had some drinks, and this German blues/jazz/funk/whatever band was playing. I KNOW I can fucking dance, and they know it, but I was so not up to it... the band was a fucking snoozefest from here to Tokyo. Just meh. My friend said she didn'ty mind cause any live music would do, but this shit... man, I didn't have any EMOTION. EMOTION. EMOTION. You know when James Bron is telling shit as if he were rapping? They were trying to do that, but I didn't buy anything they were trying to sell me. That feeling just sucks. You know what I mean. I'm sure, you are all intelligent enough.

Ok, so where were there for a while, I need to get REALLY wasted if I wanna dance to bad music, but I guess they were ok ;) (let's make it clear, I love to dance, I am a hiphop whatever fanatic) so I was just sitting on my stool most of the time... so we left after a while and we ran into the R6 crew (another one of the restaurant in the company) and J & N went home and I stayed for like 3 minutes, buying and downing a Corona all the while, and took the cab home with girls from the company who live around my area <3. The cab driver musta thought we were nuts for talking about Queensday outfits the whole time (I had to tell them about the Cheeto Wig), but it was cool beans.

And now, I need sleep!

Bye!

April 8th 2010 - 5.5 weeks pt. 2? Nosaid.com, Hypochondriasis

Hey y'all!

Ok, so I just came home only to find that not one, but two Tori gigs have been announced today! It's Finland in July and ... get this ... Russia in September... this is suspicious! Look, I can buy some US festivals in June and some EU ones in July, but Russia, September?

Anyway, even if I cannot make Finland and Russia, which will most likely be the case, could this mean there's more coming up?! This makes me tres excited! :D

And the Tori community freaked out over something else today... where the frick is yessaid.com?! Luckily, it'll be back up soon, but I've seen quite a few people with withdrawl symptoms.

Ok, stepping out of Tori land for a moment, I had to open and close the restaurant I work at for the first time on my own. Now, I told you about my three fears the other day, I have a fourth one which is linked to public speaking... it's phonecalls. Especially those to voicemails. And what did I have to do, I had to order vegetables. I trembled, I sweated and now I don't even know if I did it right. Which brings me to my next point.. I'm SUCH a hyperchondriac. It's terrible. I'll probably all night be like: 'did I close the door', 'did I count the money right', 'did I order the vegetables right', 'is the place burning down as we speak'... it's not funny :(

Well, tomorrow's another day.

Adois!

April 7th 2010. School...and ramblings

Hey all!

So I looked around online for a Cheeto Wig and I think I'll order this one:

Perfect, isn't it? Cheeto Wig FTW! My friend R. reminded me I should look for a Dutch flag jumpsuit, which would be an incredible idea, if I can find it. Otherwise the plan was to wear a 60's dress, with leggins. SO maybe a blue dress, red leggins and white accesories or gloves or something. It'll be fabous!

Other than that, I have this stupid assignment to do for school that I have been putting off since the weekend. Teacher decided we should all prep one question and answer it in class. I have 3 fears: hights, spiders and PUBLIC SPEAKING... thanks much. Oh and that doesn't mean I just have to answer the one question, no everyone should do the full assignment. Yay....

In more uplifting news, 2 of my Afterglow friends are preggers and one of them is in her last week :D Baby Gianna Anastasia is on her way, and the wait does not have to be long, it might happen between now and a few days :D I might not want or even like children, it's an exciting time and babies are cute.

Ok, school assignment it is...

Ciao!

UPDATE: Ok, so I looked at the assignment for school and although it's a LOT of work, it's fairly easy. Just looking stuff up in digital libraries, google scolar etc. Phew! My 2 questions I have to answer in class are:

Question 14: "How many clippings does the Filmmuseum have about the movie you have chose to discuss in your essay? Are they digitally available? How?

&

Question 15:
A)You are wring a paper on Marguerite Duras, so in 'search' you enter 'Duras'. How many hits do you get?
B) You get to many, eliminate some and focus on publications in English and Dutch How many hits did you get? Hoe did you find them?
C) You found an interviewcollection with Kiki Amsberg and Aafke Steenhuis. Give the titel and look up where you can find this book. Can you find it at the Filmmuseum? And what does that tell you?

So there are 13 other questions like that. a LOT of work.. but doable :D Ok, I'm cool.

Oh and Apollo says Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Casa de She-ra!

Ok, so I forgot to update you guys on one thing. I'll be buying my first apartement! We've been working on making it happen for a while now (as you probably already knew), but the last couple of things now just need to be done.

So, if everything goes right (which it never does though), I should be able to get the key somewhere at the end of the month! After, we need to put the floors in, built some stuff and there me and Apollo go! It's gonna be smaller then where I live now, but it'll be mine! It'll be further away from the city center, but it'll be mine! If I paint the walls purple with blue dots, no one is gonna care (well, except for me, since that would be kinda ugly).

So, anyway, cross fingers guys :D

Here's a picture!

Ok, so this is it. Kinda. Back where the door is, is the hallway and the bathroom but this is the kitchen and the living room AND the bedroom (well, technically there's no bedroom untill we put the contruction in that will be my bedroom). So, yes TINY. But it's gonna look amazing.

I'll have a small garden too, which is fab and that looks out on a field of grass, so enough space for Apollo to run around without getting hit by a car ;)

The whole thing is gonna be bluish/grey/black and white. I hope to get everything in there asap. I do. Decorating!! Yay!

Ask Me Questions!

The more random, the better!

http://www.formspring.me/SheraWinehouse

And, that's QUESTIONS. Not statements ;)

The Minister's Daughter is back!

I just realized my last post on this page was last year. 2009. A LOT has happened. But it hasn't. Still going to school, still have the same job (although that's touch and go most of the time), still have my cat. But. Also gained tons of friends, saw many Tori gigs and there's more to come. That is why I have decided to revive this blog and hopefully someone will read it. If not, well, at least I might think someone will read it and then I'd be happy too.

So, what's going on. Well, first of all I, or rather we at work, have decided to dress up for Queensday this year at the restaurant. Since the Dutch colors are red, white, blue and orange I need to go look for a Cheeto Wig. In other words, I'll be dressing up as a Tori/Dutch flag hybrid, with maybe a little Marcel touch, especially for my Thea. Queensday is not like Haloween, but because we don't really do Haloween here we decided it should be like Haloween. My manager is gonna flip out when she sees us and probably will tell us to take it all off, but there's no chance in hell that's gonna happen. There, I said it. I wanna dress up like Tori/Dutch flag hybrid.

Also, Tori gigs! There's 2 coming up, and depending I'll be wearing my Cheeto wig. Or I'll at least bring it. Since I already purchased it by then, I might as well. So as you all know, the 11th is Bruges and the 14th is Zurich. Travel, travel, travel!

So look foreward to blog and twitter updates on the gigs as they happen. In between now and July I'll probably bug you with other stuff too, so keep an eye out!

Minister's Daughter says: 'peace out bitches!'
